Especially for Shopify, Klaviyo offers an extensive library of ready-to-use email flows. Whether you are looking for email flows for abandoned shopping carts or strategies to win back old customers, Klaviyo has it all ready-made for you.

Klaviyo API Key

To complete certain installations, you will need your Klaviyo API Key. Here’s how to find it:

1. Log in to your Klaviyo account.
2. At the bottom left of your account, click “Settings.
3. You will now be directed to the “Account” page by default.
4. Look for the heading “API Keys” here.
5. Click on this heading. Here you will be given the option to create a private key, should you not already have one or need an additional one.

Make sure you keep your API Key private and do not share it, as it gives access to important features of your Klaviyo account.

Klaviyo Netherlands

In the Netherlands, we can finally use this powerful system. From Klaviyo you can send both e-mails and SMS. Unfortunately, the option to send text messages is not yet available in the Netherlands and at the moment only in: United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia.

Klaviyo has an extensive website and forums where most of the problems you might have are discussed. In addition, with a Klaviyo Account you can also ask questions on these various forums. If you really can’t figure it out, they also have a Klaviyo Team ready to help you.

Klaviyo Alternatives

Klaviyo is the most powerful email marketing software for e-commerce right now, but maybe it still doesn’t quite suit you. This could be because perhaps the cost is too high or because there is no linkage possible between your Web site and Klaviyo. Below are some alternatives, compared to Klaviyo.

Klaviyo VS Mailchimp

Mailchimp is one of the most recognized names in the email marketing world and therefore deserves a prominent place on this list. The platform is user-friendly, allowing you to effortlessly gather your first contacts and quickly send your first email. For novice Web shop owners who want to start their email list and communicate smoothly, Mailchimp can be a great choice.

Still, if you have the opportunity, I would recommend starting with Klaviyo right away. Klaviyo surpasses Mailchimp in several ways; it is more advanced and offers more thoughtful functionality. Moreover, Klaviyo has a free plan for the first 500 profiles. If you expect your shop to grow and want more advanced email marketing features later, you might eventually consider migrating to a platform like Klaviyo. With such a migration there is a risk that, if not done carefully, data will be lost. So unless you have a specific reason for choosing Mailchimp, I would recommend starting with Klaviyo right away.

Klaviyo VS Send in Blue / Brevo

Send in Blue is now called Brevo and has made some big changes. Brevo operates on a new system and therefore has some additional features. At the time of writing, these features are still evolving considerably and some new ones are being added every week or so. But when do you choose Brevo? Personally, I will choose Brevo only if you meet the following requirements:

  • You have a large list of email addresses
  • You are not an e-commerce company
  • You have a small budget
  • You want to create a few email automations, but not too many

 

Why this list? It’s because Brevo doesn’t go by email addresses in terms of price. This can make it an attractive option for companies with large lists and a lower budget. Creating email automations in Brevo goes through templates and in my opinion is not very user-friendly. Still if you only want to create a few then this is not a big problem. Unfortunately for E-commerce companies, I find the links and options in Brevo too minimal to really get results. Therefore, I will not recommend Brevo for that.

Klaviyo VS Active Campaign

When considering between Klaviyo and ActiveCampaign, the best choice depends on the type of business you have:

  • Are you running an e-commerce business?
  • Or do you run a B2B business?

 

For e-commerce businesses, Klaviyo is generally the better option. This software was developed specifically with e-commerce in mind, so it offers functionalities that are optimally tailored to the needs of web shops.

In contrast, ActiveCampaign is the preferred option for B2B companies. It is especially ideal for coaches, freelancers, service providers and similar businesses. This is because of the integrated CRM system, advanced sales automations and clear automation processes it offers. This makes it a top choice for companies looking for comprehensive B2B solutions.

In short, both platforms are excellent for email marketing, but they serve different primary audiences. So your choice should be based on the specific needs of your business.

Klaviyo VS Mailblue

So should you choose Klaviyo or Mailblue? Mailblue is the Dutch version of ActiveCampaign so the consideration will be the same in this case. Both platforms are excellent for email marketing but are made for a different target audience. Mailblue works great for service providers and other b2b companies and Klaviyo works perfectly for e-commerce companies.

Mailerlite is especially popular among small to medium-sized businesses because of its user-friendliness, uncluttered design and price. Whereas Klaviyo can sometimes be a bit complex, Mailerlite is a lot more suitable for novice e-mail marketers. On the e-commerce front, Klaviyo does win hands down because of the extensive integrations for e-commerce and the options Klaviyo offers.

Both platforms serve different niches and therefore have unique features. Whereas Klaviyo is made for e-commerce and offers numerous integrations with platforms such as: Shopify, Bigcommerce, WooCommerce and Magento. Mailpoet is specifically designed for WordPress websites. Mailpoet is simple to use within your wordpress environment and offers a solution for a small group of people who want to easily send emails from within WordPress.

Klaviyo VS Hubspot

Hubspot is a comprehensive marketing automation platform that includes tools for content management, SEO, email marketing, CRM, lead management and much more. It is particularly well suited for larger companies that want to streamline and centralize many of their marketing activities through Hubspot. Given the platform’s size and many features, there is a steep learning curve, which may make it less suitable for smaller businesses.

If you are unsure between Klaviyo and Hubspot, your choice should be based primarily on your specific needs. For pure e-mail marketing focused on e-commerce, Klaviyo is an excellent option. But if you are looking for a comprehensive platform that integrates marketing, sales and customer service, Hubspot is the best choice.

Convertkit is designed specifically for content creators, bloggers and online entrepreneurs. If you belong to this group, then Convertkit may be the right choice for you. For those in the e-commerce sector, Klaviyo comes highly recommended. Each platform targets a different audience, so base your choice accordingly.
